About the Kirby

We were established in 1986 in response to the then emerging HIV epidemic. We now contribute to knowledge on a broad range of diseases, including viral hepatitis and sexually transmissible infections.

 ABOUT THE STUDY

Ethics and privacy

Your participation in both the online survey and the optional in-depth interview will be kept confidential. All identifying information will be removed from the interview transcripts, and audio recordings will be destroyed after they have been transcribed. Deidentified quotes (i.e. they will not contain any identifying information) from participants may be used in publications.

Any identifying information you provide to the research team will be kept confidential and will not be divulged to anyone outside the RISE Study research team, except as required by law.

What do I have to do?

We will ask you to complete an online survey, which should take about 35–45 minutes. We will then send you a shorter follow-up survey every 6 months.

As well as the online survey, we will invite you to take part in an optional in-depth interview. The interview will provide an opportunity for you to talk about your experience of HIV in more detail.

IMPORTANT: This interview is optional.

Am I eligible?

To be eligible to participate in RISE you must be:

  • Aged 16 years or above.

  • Currently living in Australia.

  • Diagnosed with HIV since 2016
